What cheap products are worth buying in bulk?

  • I've been making some extra money selling second-hand items on eBay, but finding things to resell takes up too much of my weekends. I'm thinking about buying small quantities of new products wholesale so I can restock the same items instead of constantly hunting for something different. I don't have a big budget, and I'd rather avoid expensive electronics or anything that could leave me dealing with lots of returns. What kinds of inexpensive products are worth considering for a small resale business, and how do you figure out which ones people will actually buy?

  • Weekend sourcing gets old fast when every sale means going out and hunting for another completely different item. Having something you can reorder takes a lot of that running around out of the business. Before buying anything in bulk, check completed eBay sales and see how often the item actually sells, not just how many people have it listed. Work out what is left after fees, postage and packaging, then start with the smallest order the supplier allows. A cheap unit price doesn't help much if most of the stock is still sitting there three months later.

Use it to get a wider pool of product ideas, then cut that list down before spending anything. Check how crowded the eBay results are, what buyers are actually paying and whether the item is easy to ship without adding much cost. For a first order, keep enough cash aside to try another product if the first one turns out to be slow.
