Just ordered! Wondering about side loading apps

  • Hey guys!

Just ordered the ikko activebuds and I'm excited to try it out!

I'm planning to use it as a stand alone device when I wanna get away from my phone. This looks like the exact device I need!

But I have a question, how easy is it to sideload appsblike google maps or WhatsApp?

Because I'm probably going to need those when I'm out and about, and would it be possible to message through voice to text?

And are there any plans to add Android auto at any point?

    Thanks!

  • I totally get the struggle of finding the right photo editing app that’s both easy to use and powerful enough for all the little tweaks you need. Activebuds are great for casual listening, but when it comes to snapping and editing pics, sometimes you need that extra bit of flexibility, especially if you're not looking for something too complicated. I stumbled upon a list of great Snapseed alternatives the other day, and honestly, they made my editing so much smoother. It’s always nice to have a few options, whether you’re enhancing your shots or just adding some fun effects. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something beyond the usual! Here's the link I found helpful https://skylum.com/blog/snapseed-alternatives Hope this helps!

The main thing to check is whether the ActiveBuds actually run a standard version of Android with Google Play services, or a more restricted Android-based system. Sideloading an APK may be possible, but that doesn't guarantee Maps or WhatsApp will work properly—Google sign-in, notifications, location services and background permissions can all be issues.

For voice-to-text, WhatsApp also needs a compatible keyboard or speech-recognition service, and a microphone alone doesn't guarantee dictation support. I'd wait until you have the device and check which apps and services are supported before relying on it as a phone replacement. Android Auto is a separate feature that requires specific integration; unless Ikko has announced support, I wouldn't count on it arriving through a routine software update.
